Sixth Grade
Sixth grade counseling competencies and lessons are designed to provide guidance in the area of understanding and recognizing feelings of self and others in relationship to behaviors and choices. Students develop skills in the areas of handling conflict, peer pressure, and tolerance for one another, as well as friendship skills. Career exploration activities allow 6th grade students the opportunity to explore the relationships between interests and talents. As students move from the
elementary school to the middle school, we strive to make this experience and
school year as smooth as possible. This
is a period in children’s lives when they need structure and the feeling of
“connection. They will need to develop skills that will allow them to become
independent learners. Our services
are aimed at helping children learn and develop to their highest potential. Seventh
Grade Seventh
grade is a time of excitement and new experiences for students. They are honing
their academic skills, continuing to focus on preparing for their future. They
are also expanding their interpersonal skills and encountering new, and often
challenging, social situations. Seventh grade guidance and counseling
competencies support continued development in both areas. Students learn to set Eighth
Grade In the eighth grade, the
focus of the guidance and counseling program is to prepare students for high
school. Student lessons focus on
handling conflict, decision-making skills and problem solving as they relate to
future plans, relationships, and life changes.
Students participate in the KUDER Career Exploration activity that allows
them to investigate career interest and work values. |
