Alton C. Crews Middle School
Summer Reading 2008
Summer
Reading, along with a follow-up assignment, is a long standing practice for
Crews students. Research shows that reading comprehension, verbal ability, and
test scores increase as students read more. The summer reading program at Crews
aims to continue to prepare students for a rigorous high school curriculum.
Each student is responsible for reading two
books off the list of books for the grade level they are entering in August.
Students should also complete a card following the documentation guidelines
(below) for each of the books. This documentation will be used during the first
week of school in language arts class to complete a summer reading assignment.
These cards will be graded in conjunction with the in-class summer reading
assignment.
