All Gwinnett County Public Schools middle schools will be implementing an advisement program this year.  The purpose for the program is to increase academic rigor, relevance of learning, and healthy relations between students and teachers.  Crews Middle School has designed its program especially to help your student be more successful at school and feel more a part of the middle school experience.

Effective immediately, Crews is beginning a program of weekly, small-group, advisement meetings.  The purpose of advisement programs is to build meaningful connections between adults and students resulting in improved student academic achievement. Relationships between students and adults are the key to establishing a foundation that promotes and enhances opportunities for students to make sense of and internalize academic rigor and relevance.

Called TEAM CREWS, our advisement program believes that Creating Relationships Ensures Widespread Success. Each grade has its own set of specific skills and issues to discuss that fit into the following categories which all three grades share:  Building Your Individual Skills, Successful School Experience, and Planning for the Future.

By creating and fostering interpersonal relationships and a sense of community, we at Crews believe that we will cultivate an environment where students attain higher levels of engagement in class and have fewer instances of behavioral/discipline issues.  Students will also experience higher levels of academic success through increased attendance rates, reduced failure rates on periodic assessments, and reduced retention rates, while creating new relationships with adult advocates within the school.

TEAM CREWS Advisement meetings will take place every Friday immediately after homeroom from 9:20-9:50 A.M.  Please make sure your student is present for this very important time of the week.

This is a great opportunity for Crews Middle School to reach even greater heights!  If you have any concerns or questions, please contact one of the following people:  Dr. Janet Blanchette, Assistant Principal, or Dr. Michelle Stangline, Graduation Counselor, at 770-982-6940.
