This year’s foreign language program at Crews is made up of nine-week classes in the sixth grade. The Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) goals for these classes cover the following topics: personal information, school, culture and leisure, food, geography, alphabet, colors, numbers, weather and calendar. These nine-week classes are designed to introduce the students to the basics of the languages and cultures so that they can make a more informed choice as to what language to pursue in high school. Sixth grade students learn about the Spanish language.
Seventh and eighth grade students are involved in a two year Spanish 1 class. These students will stay in Spanish all year long in seventh and eighth grades. Upon entering high school in ninth grade, students who have successfully completed the class will be eligible to go right to Spanish II. Our program is the same Spanish 1 program that is currently being offered in Gwinnett County High Schools. We are excited about the opportunities for our students in foreign language at Alton C. Crews Middle School.
