Vision Statement
Gwinnett County Public Schools will be a system of world-class schools where students acquire the knowledge and skills to be successful as they continue their education at the post secondary level and/or enter the work force.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Gwinnett County Public Schools is to pursue excellence in academic knowledge, skills, and behavior for each student resulting in measured improvement against local, national, and world-class standards.

Strategic Goals
 1.  Students who complete the college-preparatory program will meet or exceed the academic performance of students who graduate from college-preparatory private schools.

 2.  Standardized test scores will improve significantly each year.

 3.  SAT scores will exceed the national and state averages and will be the highest of any school system within our state-designated comparison group in Georgia.

 4.  Students who complete the college-preparatory program will not be assigned to
remedial college classes upon matriculation in the University System of Georgia.

 5.  Students will cam promotion from one grade level to another which, in turn, means that social promotion will be eliminated.

 6. Students who graduate with the college-preparatory and/or technical education diploma will demonstrate proficiency in core subjects on prescribed achievement standards and in elective classes according to course and occupational standards that validate preparation for college and/or work.

  7.  Students, employees, and visitors will feel safe and secure in carrying out their
legitimate functions at schools and those persons who interfere with the security of
the school cannot be permitted to impede the schools' purposes.

 8. Students will be taught good work habits and traditional values at school.

 9. All students will be proficient, as defined by the GCPS Academic Knowledge and Skills, in the fields or reading, writing, and mathematics by the end of third grade.

 10. We will integrate the concepts and strategies of continuous quality improvement in the school system's philosophy and management processes.

System Initiatives

DEFINING WORLD-CLASS IN THE GCPS

When we hear the term " world-class," a number of businesses, organizations, services, and products most likely come to our minds.  They have earned that title by offering extraordinary service and delivering high-quality products we want to use.  The Gwinnett County Public Schools' goal is to be the school system of choice- the one with the schools all parents want their children to attend, the one other school systems aspire to be like. We plan to become a "system of world-class schools" by doing the same things other world-class organizations- offering extraordinary service (instructionally and operationally) and delivering high-quality products (a rigorous, academic curriculum that prepares students for the future.)   Our vision and mission statements both refer to "world-class," and list the attributes we believe characterize a world-class school. We encourage parents, business leaders, and community members to share our vision and help us make the GCPS a "system of world-class schools."
