The following pages are required to make up your web site:
        1. [General Info] rodh.html (This is your 1st page ... Home Page ... see requirements above.)
        2. [Products Page] product.html (Describe at least 5 different things you sell and give prices for each. You must describe in brief detail about each product. Sound convincing so I will order from you.)
        3. [Directions] directions.html (Provide a detailed map to your store and/or different locations, or diagram the inside of your store showing locations of each of your products or showroom displays)
        4. [Gift Certificate] giftcert.html (Describe how nice it would be to give a gift certif. and how to order them straight off the Internet)
        5. [Coupon] coupon.html (Provide at least one coupon that can be printed off the Internet and used at your store. Detail how easy it is to print out coupons and how often the coupon changes.)
        6. [Prizes] prizes.html (Fill out a check or Void a check and talk about how to win cash and prizes. Or show how other people can give to a charity and your company will match their gift. List which charities your company supports.
        7. [Company History] history.html (How did it all get started. Describe how you started off as a simple sales clerk and then raised and saved enough money for your first store in Chickenswitch, Ga. And now have over 300 store Nation wide and 150 branches around the world.)
        8. [Owners and staff] owners.html (Detail the biographical history of the owners and top officials in your company. Tell what college they went to and what experience they have to sell their products
        9. [Service] service.html (Include the many different services your company provides for your company. Things like 30 day money back guarantee, Home delivery, Free shipping, Toll Free 1-800 numbers, etc...)
        10. [Employee] employee.html (This page provides information for your employees.... things like future company socials, insurance changes, holidays, benefit changes, needed positions, employee of the month, etc.)
        11. [Order Form] order.html (This page details the information you need in order for a customer to order products off of your Internet site.)

          Main Directions:
          You are about to begin to create your own web site for your company. There will be a total of at least 8 pages. Each page will have 1. One or more graphics, 2. A title, 3. A paragraph, and finally 4. Buttons or navigation table. Most of the graphics will come from your work previously done in ClarisWorks. The rest will be created from scratch. Your company web site will be graded on how realistic it looks, completion, and how accurately you follow these instructions.
          Day 1

          STEP 1: (Create 1st Page)

          1. Open Netscape Navigator and go to FILE + NEW and choose Blank Page
          2. Go to Insert and Click on Table
          3. Change the Number of Columns to 8, Table Alignment to Center, and Border Line Width to 0 then click OK.
          4. Click below the table. (The cursor should be blinking under the table.
          5. Use the Alignment tool to center or press Ctrl + E
          6. Create a Horizontal line by pressing the H.-Line Button from the top tool bar.
          7. Save this page as home and when asked for the title you can type “Welcome to Your Company Name”.
          8. Press enter once more and type the following:
          This site was created by Your Name (Your name in Italics)

          STEP 2: Creating Links

          1. Highlight Mr. Hames and Choose the Link Button from the top Tool bar.
          2. In the Link to box, type: mailto:rodhames@crews.org?subject=Your Name then click OK.

          3. (Do not use any spaces or capital letters until you type your name)
          4. Next, Highlight Alton C. Crews Middle School and choose the Link Button.
          5. In the Link to box, type: http://www.crews.org then click OK.
          STEP 3: Creating your HTML pages
          1. Go to File and press Save (or click the Save button from the top tool bar).
          2. Next, Press the New Button at the top left of your screen (or File + New + Blank Page)
          3. Save this 2nd page as: coupon and when asked for the title type “Coupons from Our Company
          4. Continue steps 2 - 3 until you have all 8 pages created. Page names must be as follows:

          STEP 4: Creating Buttons/Links for Your Company Web Pages

          1. Open a blank ClarisWorks Drawing Document and save the file as buttonmaker.cwk
          2. Go to Format + Document and change the margins to:

          3. Top: 5
            Bottom: 5
            Left: 3.42
            Right: 3.42
          4. Go to Format + Rulers and change the Units to Centimeters
          5. Go to Options and choose “Turn Autogrid Offor just press CTRL + Y.
          6. Make your buttons no bigger than 1 cm (centimeter) by 2 cm

          7. · The text in your button should have a nice color, font and small size.
            · You do not need a box or shape around your buttons
            · Be consistent with your design or colors and remember white will be transparent.
            · Be careful not to extend text boxes too large.
          8. Save each button you create as a gif file. It is important to name the buttons as follows:

            3. giftbtn.gif 7. employeebtn.gif
            4. couponbtn.gif 8. orderbtn.gif
          10. Insert your new buttons into your table on the home page. (Open Home.htm and go to File + Edit Page) then choose Insert + Image and choose your btn (button) file to put into your table.
          11. Create links for each button to the appropriate page by double clicking on your button graphic or click once and choose Insert + Link then choose the page that matches your button (Example: homebtn goes to the home page).
          12. When finished creating all the links, go back and double click on each button graphic and change the “Solid Border “number from 2 to 0. This removes the purple boarder around your button. Press Save to save all your work.
          13. Now, go to Edit and choose Select All. Your entire page should be highlighted.
          14. Choose Edit + Copy.
          15. Next, Press the File + Open Page and open each of your Web Pages and press Edit + Paste. Now: You should see your Button Table, H.Line and Paragraph appear.
          16. Press save then open the next file and press paste (just as step 12 says).
          STEP 5: Creating Gif graphics for Your Company Web Pages
          1. Open a blank ClarisWorks Drawing Document and save the file as titlemaker.cwk
          2. Go to Format + Document and change the margins to:

            Right: .50
          4. Go to Options and choose “Turn Autogrid Offor just press CTRL + Y.
          5. Create a Title graphic gif file for each of the following web pages. It is important to name the buttons as follows: (The use of colors and fonts are very important!

          STEP 6: Finish Creating Gif graphics for Your Company Web Pages
          1. Open your ClarisWorks checks file. You need to erase all but one of the check and then fill out the check as if a person has won a large amount of money. Make sure you sign the check with a script font so it looks like you signed it.

          2. Save the finished file as checkgr.gif A GiF graphic.
          3. Open your ClarisWorks gift certificate file. You need to Place Void Diagonally across one or all (if they are different) of the gift certificates.
          4. Open your ClarisWorks memo file and re-save it as ownergr.gif.
          5. Open your ClarisWorks party file and re-save it as employeegr.gif.
          6. Open your ClarisWorks orderform file and re-save it as orderformgr.gif.
          STEP 7: Insert Gif Graphics/ Background Images (or colors) and / or Sounds into Your Company Web Pages
          • Open each web page and Choose File + Edit page and then Insert + Image for the following files:
          1. home.htm page hometitle.gif and homegr.gif
          2. map.htm page maptitle.gif and mapgr.gif
          3. gift.htm page gifttitle.gif and giftgr.gif
          4. coupon.htm page coupontitle.gif and coupongr.gif
          5. prize.htm page prizetitle.gif and prizegr.gif
          6. owner.htm page ownertitle.gif and ownergr.gif
          7. employee.htm page employeetitle.gif and employeegr.gif
          8. order.htm page ordertitle.gif and orderformgr.gif
           
          • Inserting backgound images and colors is as easy as going to Insert + Image then checking the box that says “Use as background”. Colors can be changed by going to Format + Page Colors and Properties then choosing background colors.
          • Adding Sounds is not as simple. To use a sound on your page you will need to first save the sound then go to the page you want to insert the sound and:

          • Go to Insert + HTML Tag and type the following:

          STEP 8: Last Step ... Write paragraphs and print pages
           

          1. Spell check and Save. (To Edit a web page you MUST first choose FILE + EDIT PAGE.
          2. The Map, Gift, Coupon, and Prize page must have at least 5 sentences that tells about the page or gives detail about your company. Below you will find ideas for writing the paragraphs.
          3. Your paragraph must be typed in a table (1 row and 1 column) you create below the title or below your graphic.
          4. You must also SPELL CHECK EACH PAGE before your print them out and give to me.
          [Map] map.htm ... Write out step for step the easiest way to get to your store from the nearest large city. (5 sentences)

          [Gifts] giftcert.htm ... Gift Certificate page. Describe how nice it would be to give a gift certificate and how to order and pay for them straight off the Internet. Then explain the process for using this certificate. (5 sentences)

          [Coupons] coupon.htm ... How can this coupon be used. When does it expire? Will others be posted? Can I get on a coupon mailing list. If so how? (5 sentences)

          [Prizes] prizes.htm ... Describe the contest (or sweepstakes) that your company is running. What is the process for entering into the contest. Do you have to make a purchase to enter? What is the Grand Prize and when will it be awarded. When does the sweepstakes or contest end? (5 sentences)

          Extra Credit Pages:

          ** [Products] product.htm ... Describe at least 5 different things you sell and give prices for each. You must describe in brief detail about each product. Sound convincing so I will order from you.)
          ** [History] history.htm ... Company History page. How did it all get started. Note:
The use of color and background patterns are a critical feature to the look and design of your web site. Colors that clash or creates a page that is somewhat hard to read will receive a low grade. Lesson: White makes a great Background color!
